Evie Shockley & Trish Salah

Nov 4th, 7pm

York Amphitheatre, EV 1.605, 1515 Rue St. Catherine

Evie Shockley is the author of several collections of poetry, including a half-red sea (2006) and the new black (2011), and she is the headline event for Off The Page. Shockley is also the author of the critical volume Renegade Poetics: Black Aesthetics and Formal Innovation in African American Poetry (2011).

Trish Salah works in the area of transnational studies in gender, sexuality, race and minority cultural production. Her first book of poetry, Wanting in Arabic, investigates the inscription of diasporic trans and queer subjectivities and the social, rhetorical and desiring labour of minority community formation. Her second book, Lyric Sexology Vol. 1, employs the lyric as a lens to read transgender fantasies encoded in feminist, autobiographical, anthropological, sexological and psychoanalytic archives.
