Musicians and writers include: members of the Congregation Shaar Hashomayim, Basia Bulat, Thus Owls, Laura Sauvage of Les Hay Babies, NEeMA, Emilie & Ogden, Daniel Isaiah Schachter, Brad Barr, Marie-Pierre Arthur, Samito, Kaie Kellough and Li’l Andy—all supported by a backing band featuring members of Esmerine, experimental indie rockers Thus Owls, and high-octane Eastern European Jewish folk revivalists Shtreiml. Please stay tuned as more guests are announced imminently.

The event will also bridge Montreal’s literary and musical communities as local authors read selections from Cohen’s poetry and novels as part of the variety/memorial show. IMPAC Dublin Literary Award-winning novelist Rawi Hage, Montreal poet (and longtime Cohen confidante) Phil Tétrault, New York Times Magazine and Jezebel columnist Kathryn Jezer-Morton, and Will McClelland—whose novel The Minted is being compared to Cohen’s Beautiful Losers—are scheduled to read between songs.

Please join us on December 15th as we come together as performers, as fans and as a community to celebrate the life, the song and the spirit of Leonard Cohen. As Li’l Andy states:: “This is a show we’ve been preparing for in our hearts since we first heard or read Cohen and felt a kinship to him. That’s the thing about Cohen fans: we all feel like he’s ours. But here in Montreal, he’s ours more than anywhere else in the world.”
