About Dial-a-Poem MTL (514-558-8649): During the pandemic, Expozine launched its own poetry-on-demand service, a relaunched version of Dial-a-Poem! This project was created by the poet John Giorno in New York City in the 1970s, and was revived in Montreal in the 1980s by Fortner Anderson. Expozine’s version promotes recent publications and publishers who take part in the Expozine book fair by having different authors and poets read excerpts from them, once per week, one reading in English and one in French. As a bonus, the service also features an archival reading from the 1980s version of the project each week. This evening of readings will feature new works freshly published in issues of the literary magazines Carte Blanche, Moebius and Lettres Québecoises. Copies of some of the publications will be available for sale at the event, as well as at the Expozine small press fair the next day of course! All readers will also be featured in the coming weeks in the Dial a Poem service!Vaccine passport and photo ID are required to attend the event, and safe practices such as masks and social distancing will be respected.Expozine and Dial-a-Poem MTL are made possible in part thanks to the support of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, le Conseil des arts de Montréal and the Canada Council for the Arts.
